Catlinite

Natural Catlinite, often known as pipestone, is a kind of argillite found in central North America. It was given the name "pipestone" because some Native Americans used it to make ceremonial smoking pipes. Furthermore, this gemstone is typically brownish-red in hue, as it occurs in a specific matrix of Sioux Quartzite. Because it is fine-grained and easily worked, it is appreciated by Native Americans, particularly those of the Plains countries, for constructing ceremonial pipes, similar to the chanunpas.
