Using a sage bundle is one of the best ways to cleanse your stones of negative energy. If you don't have sage, you can light incense or herbs near your crystals or move the stones through the smoke. This will help clear any negative emotions that your gem has absorbed. When clearing your stones this way indoors, you will want to open a window so that the negativity can leave.

Sun
While the sun can charge your stones very quickly, you will want to remove the stone from the sun after an hour or two as the sun could discolor your crystals (even those that are sun-safe). You can set your stone outside or on a windowsill to absorb the powerful energy from the heavens. The time you need to charge your crystals will vary, but they can often be ready in just a few minutes.

Candle
Candlelight is one of the best ways to charge stones, especially those that resonate with the fire element. Simply light the candle, hold the gem near the flame or over the flame, and be careful not to damage either your body or the stone. This will allow the warmth and flickering light to recharge the stone.

Breath
Some crystals can be cleansed with your breath. All you need to do is hold the stone in your hand (the dominant hand is best), close your eyes and focus on your intention to clean the stone. Take a deep breath and fill your air with the intention. Blow out the air in short spurts over the crystal to remove any negative energy. You will typically need to do this for 30-60 seconds per stone.

Sound
If you have large stones or a number of crystals, using sound may allow you to charge all of them at once. You can use Tibetan bells, a singing bowl, or tuning forks to create a vibrational tone that will fill the stone and renew them again. Play the sound for about 10 minutes to charge your crystals.

You can place any crystal in brown rice for 24 hours to remove negative energy safely. All you need is a bowl or jar of brown rice that you can bury your stones in to completely cover them. After removing the stones from the brown rice, you can use a soft brush to remove dust. Dispose of the rice as it will have absorbed the negativity from the crystals.

Visualization is a safe and powerful way of charging any of your crystals. Take time to center your energy and ground yourself, then pick up the sone in your hands. Focus on filling your hands with a radiant light through visualization for a minute or two. Focus on removing the negativity from the stone, allowing it to be cleansed and recharged with purpose. You should be able to feel the energy within the stone shift into positivity.

Smudging
Smudging your stones will immediately remove negative energies, so it is important to open a window for them to leave if you are cleansing your crystals indoors. Simply light either used bundled or loose sage with a match then blow out the flame to produce smoke. Wave the stone through the smoke for 30 to 60 seconds to clear bad vibrations. Ensure you use a fire-safe bowl or plate for safety.

Saltwater
Saltwater is a highly effective method of cleansing and charging certain crystals. Gather saltwater from the ocean in a jar if you live near a beach. Otherwise, mix sea salt into some water. Carefully place your stones into the jar and allow them to soak between 24-48 hours. At that point, carefully remove your stones and pat them off with a soft cloth. Dispose of salt water.

Returning your crystals to the earth can refill them with energy, renewing them. Dig a hole in the earth and place a plate in the soil. Cover the plate slightly, then place the stones on top. Bury the stones and mark the place on the surface where you know where to dig. A week later, carefully remove the topsoil and remove the stones. If you reach the plate, you know you have gone too far and you may have dug up the stone.

You can cleanse your crystals with Himalayan salt in two different ways. You can either place them near a Himalayan salt lamp for 10-12 hours or you can place them in a glass jar of Himalayan salt and allow them to charge for 12-24 hours. If you place your stones in a jar, you will want to dispose of the salt when you are done.

Salt is known for its ability to remove negative energies. To use it to cleanse your own crystals, fill a jar or bowl with sea salt. Place your stones on top of the salt, then cover the bowl with a cloth. Allow the crystals to sit in the jar for a day or two to cleanse the crystals, then carefully remove them. Use a soft cloth or brush to remove any dust. Dispose of the salt.

As long as your stone is not water soluable and is durable enough (3+ on Mohs hardness), you may be able to put it in a bowl of lukewarm water to cleanse and charge the stone. You will want to leave the stone in the water between 2-10 hours (leaving it overnight is a good way to do it). Dry stones with a soft cloth to avoid causing damage to them.

Cleansing your stones with the full moon is an excellent way to remove negativity. Some stones can be cleaned in soapy water. When cleaning them, ensure that you use a gentle soap and carefully remove any dust or debris from the stone. After the stone is clean, rinse off the stone with lukewarm water and pat the stone down with a soft cloth.

Running Water
Holding a stone in running water for about a minute each can both cleanse and charge many hard stones. Access to a natural spring is always best, but faucets also work as long as the stone can be completely submerged. You can also place them in a fountain to allow the water to run over the stones. Dry with a soft cloth when you remove the stone from the water.
