Carnelian

Carnelian

Carnelian is a variety of chalcedony quartz that can vary in color from bright red to deep brown, sometimes with white markings. The name comes from the Latin word for "flesh" which it resembles. This stone has been valued since antiquity as a healing crystal and talisman. It was used to promote physical well-being, comfort during childbirth or illness, spirituality through religion or meditation practices--and even fidelity in love relationships!
